Alma Madrigal (often referred to as Abuela) is the deuteragonist of Disney's 2021 animated feature film Encanto. She is a wise old woman who was blessed with a gift-granting Miracle Candle, Abuela is the matriarch of the Madrigals, the mother of Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno, and the grandmother of Isabela, Dolores, Luisa, Camilo, Mirabel, and Antonio. As the original source of its magic, Abuela also serves as the head of the enchanted village in which she and her family resides.
